The Society’s 44th annual fieldwork and planning seminar is fast approaching, and this year it is taking place entirely online.
Explore is the perfect opportunity to learn from those who have undertaken field research and expeditions with a purpose, and this year is no different. The focus is on small projects with a research component, but anyone planning expeditions or fieldwork is welcome to join.
Our speakers will share an array of methods, new technologies and approaches used during their fieldwork to better understand the people and places they visited. These include interviewing women about their experiences of climate change in Cuba, using low-cost sensors to monitor glaciers in Peru, biodiversity surveys in the Bornean tropical forests, using current anthropological practice to re-contextualise the cultural artefacts of native Siberian Evenki people, and enabling non-literate communities in Congo and elsewhere to collect their own environmental data.
Explore 2020 will take place online between 4.00pm and 7.00pm on Saturday 14 November.
