Congratulations to all our Teacher Training Scholars who have completed either their first year of teaching or their training as part of our Scholarship programme.
With support from the Department for Education, our Geography Teacher Training Scholarships provide trainee geography teachers with £28,000 tax-free funding, free training events, access to teaching resources, Postgraduate Fellowship of the Society and much more.
Tulsi Pankhania, 2017-2018 Scholar, has just completed her first year as a Newly Qualified Teacher, she said: “The scholarship programme has really helped with my continuing professional development. Having access to the online resources, the lectures and those working at the Society has made my journey much smoother and helped me share my experiences with other scholars, creating a tight-knit community.”
Tom Williamson, 2018-2019 Scholar, has just completed his teacher training year. He highlights the support provided by the Scholarship during his training, Tom said: “There has been range of support which has ultimately given the pupils that I have taught a stronger understanding of geography. Through the teaching resources available, the opportunity for training and the access to journals, the support has helped provide a really positive experience so far in training to teach geography. This Scholarship programme will, I believe, help provide a fulfilling and exciting career in teaching geography.”
Applications for our Scholarship programme to begin teacher training in September 2019 have now closed, but we will begin accepting applications for those starting training in autumn 2020 later in the year.
