Following the recruitment of David Wood as the new Head of Geography for the Government Science and Engineering (GSE) profession, six Deputy Heads of Geography are to be appointed. Each deputy will lead on a specific area of work designed to place the subject at the heart of policy design and delivery.
The six work packages have been developed by David in collaboration with the Cross Government Geography Group to support GSE members. They include: strategy, government and networks; growing the profession within government; embedding geography in the policy making cycle; and professional standards and outreach. Each Deputy Head of Geography will become the cross-governmental lead on their specific area and be an ambassador for the subject.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence and raise the profile of geography across the government.
If you are an experienced geographer and interested in the roles available, the deadline for applications is 14 May 2018.
