We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new editor to one of the Society’s academic journals.
Professor Adrian Bailey from Hong Kong Baptist University, has rejoined the editorial team for Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers, following a period of sabbatical. Adrian will join Professor Colin McFarlane from Durham University, Professor Jo Little from the University of Exeter, Dr Pat Noxolo from the University of Birmingham, and Professor Matthew Sparke from the University of California, Santa Cruz, as co-editors of the journal. Professor Robyn Dowling from the University of Sydney, has concluded her term as co-editor of this journal.
Two editors of the journal Geo: Geography and Environment are also stepping down from their roles. Professor Gail Davies, University of Exeter, and Professor Anson Mackay, UCL, were the founding editors of Geo, and have both stepped down after six years in the role. They leave the journal under the stewardship of Professor Rosie Cox from Birkbeck, University of London, Professor Sarah Davies from Aberystwyth University, and Professor David Demeritt from King’s College London.
We are also delighted to welcome back Dr Ruth Craggs as series editor for the RGS-IBG book series, following a period of maternity leave. She will continue to share responsibilities with Dr Chih Yuan Woon from the National University of Singapore, who has been covering the role in Ruth’s absence, for the next few months.
The Society is enormously grateful to Professors Dowling, Davies and Mackay for their hard work, enthusiasm, care, and leadership in their respective roles with the journals. We owe them all a debt of thanks.
Our academic journals are internationally recognised and provide an outlet, and support, for the dissemination of high-quality research across the breadth of geography. We are looking forward to working with each of the editorial teams to help them realise their goals and continue to diversify the range of voices and areas of the discipline that are represented in the journals.
