The Society’s Geography Ambassadors scheme supports undergraduate and postgraduate geographers as they promote the value of further study and careers in their local schools. We provide training, resources and contacts, while the geographers provide enthusiasm, inspiration and information.
Many universities recognise the value of this kind of voluntary activity by their students, and one example is the recent alignment of the Ambassadors programme with the University of Liverpool’s student Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).
HEAR is a record of a student’s achievements, acknowledging the full range of opportunities available including academic work, extra-curricular activities, prizes, employability awards and voluntary work.
As with Geography Ambassador visits across the UK, the sessions delivered in Liverpool have been described as ‘great positive experiences for all involved’, with the presenters praised for their confidence and enthusiasm.
