The Society congratulates geography Professors Catherine Nash, Gill Valentine and Veronica Della Dora on their recent election as British Academy Fellows. They join a further 73 other academics elected to the academy this year in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the humanities and social sciences.
Catherine Nash is Professor of Human Geography at Queen Mary University of London. Her research interests lie in cultural geography, specifically the geographies of relatedness, interspecies kinship, and genealogical knowledges and practices of identity and difference, as well as Irish geographies.
Professor Gill Valentine is Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Sheffield. Her research is in the areas of equality, diversity and social inclusion; intergenerational relations; childhood and family life; and urban cultures and consumption.
Veronica Della Dora is Professor of Human Geography at Royal Holloway University of London. Her research area focuses on cultural and historical geography; Byzantine and post-byzantine studies especially concentrating on sacred space and representations of place, landscape and nature.
These leading geographers join a community of over 1,400 of the leading minds that make up the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences.
