Today is UN International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR).
IDDRR promotes disaster risk reduction, acknowledging the losses and challenges presented by disaster risks, and recognising progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The Society’s Disaster Risk Management Professional Practice Group (DRM PPG) brings together geographers who have an interest in disaster risk management.
Join them in November for their next webinar Disasters and global change: how do we respond? and in the mean time take a look at the DRM PPG’s interview with Jenty Kirsch-Wood from the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction on progress and challenges in disaster risk.
The DRM PPG works to connect and inform geographers working in disaster risk. Find out more about their work, browse their resources and webinars, and join the DRM PPG LinkedIn group.
