Today is International Geodiversity Day and to mark it, events are taking place across the world.
Geodiversity is the foundation of all biodiversity, and is all around us. It is all the parts of nature that aren't alive, including everything from minerals and fossils, to soils and spectacular landscapes. Geodiversity creates the conditions in which life can develop and thrive, and underpins all the environments and ecosystems on Earth.
Find out more about what geodiversity is and why it is important.
