Professor Neil Smith died on 29 September 2012 in New York City. He was Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and Geography at the City University of New York and also Sixth Century Professor of Geography and Social Theory at Aberdeen University. Neil was well-known for his research and many publications on inner city gentrification.
