The Society is delighted to announce a new programme of grants, the Walters Kundert Awards, to support field research in Arctic and high mountain environments.
Each year the Walters Kundert Fellowship and three Walters Kundert Grants for postgraduates will be awarded. Preference will be given to applications for field studies that advance the understanding of environmental change within Arctic and/or high mountain environments.
Dr Rita Gardner, Director at the Society said: “The broad remit for both the Fellowship and the Grants is designed to encourage applications from across the spectrum of geographical research. The new Walters Kundert Awards are particularly important additions to the Society’s programme of support for research as they will serve to enhance the understanding and well-being of the planet’s Arctic and high mountain environments.”
The Fellowship and Grants are supported, in perpetuity, by the Walters Kundert Charitable Trust through a permanent endowment at the Society.
The deadline for applications for the first round of the Walters Kundert Awards is 22 February.
