Edward O. Wilson was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama and earned a doctorate at Harvard University where he taught for several decades. Wilson's study of ants led to conclusions about human behavior being a product of genetics rather than culture. He presented these views and other groundbreaking work on evolution and entomology in over 30 books.
