Ahead of COP26, the Society is pleased to support the Oceans of Knowledge conference taking place later this month to discuss current scientific understanding of the ocean-related aspects of climate change.

The two-day conference, organised by the IMarEST Operational Oceanography Special Interest Group, will address themes of climate change and sustainable use of the ocean and ocean resources, the role of the ocean in natural and engineered climate mitigation, and rising sea levels and coastal vulnerability. Policy responses will be placed in the context of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

This is a great opportunity to meet and network with delegates from government, academia and industry, representing multiple disciplines and sectors concerned with understanding, mitigating and adapting to a changing climate.

The conference will be held on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 October.
