We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Katherine Brickell (King’s College London) as a new Editor of Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers (Transactions).
Professor Brickell has been appointed to replace Professor Adrian Bailey (Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College) and Professor Patricia Noxolo (University of Birmingham), who both completed their terms as Editor at the end of 2022. She will join Professors Colin McFarlane (Durham University) and Matthew Sparke (University of California, Santa Cruz) to form a team of three co-editors for the journal. The Editors are supported by an editorial board of 10.
Speaking about her new role, Professor Brickell said:
“After an inspiring six years as editor of Gender, Place & Culture, I am looking forward to engaging with scholars from across the discipline to showcase their research and working with the Transactions editorial team to further the journal’s commitment to providing space for more collective and collaborative approaches to geographical debate.”
The Society is enormously grateful to Professors Bailey and Noxolo for their hard work, care, and leadership in their editorial roles. They have advanced the journal significantly over their tenures and we owe them a debt of gratitude for this.
Our academic journals are internationally recognised and provide an outlet, and support, for the dissemination of high-quality research across the breadth of geography. We are looking forward to working with each of the editorial teams to help them realise their goals and continue to diversify the range of voices and areas of the discipline that are represented in the journals.
