Professor Keith Clayton, who died on 12 February 2013, was President of the Institute of British Geographers in 1984. In 1967 he took up the challenge to establish the School of Environmental Sciences at the fledgling University of East Anglia (UEA). He was an advisor on environmental and climate change strategies nationally and internationally, receiving a CBE in 1984 for services to the University Grants Committee and UEA.
