We are proud to have received a Highly Commended Award from the 2021 Geographical Association (GA) Publishers’ Awards for our educational resources Discovering the Weddell Sea – Education for Antarctic Conservation.
Produced in partnership with The Flotilla Foundation, the five educational interactives and digital Antarctic Collectors Album aim to mark the accomplishment of ‘a pioneering Antarctic expedition into the depths of the frozen Weddell Sea’ and to help educate students about Antarctic conservation and marine protected areas. The resources are suitable for all Key Stages and are free to access. The judges said of our resources: ‘This online suite of resources aims to engage and educate students about Antarctica and specifically the Weddell Sea. Combining videos, interactive animations and a digital sticker book, the resources offer a different and refreshing approach to the topic.’
The GA Publishers’ Awards recognise resources that make a significant contribution to geography in both primary and secondary schools or colleges, and encourage the creative development of new resources. Find out more about the awards.
