The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) is aware that many academic geographers, as UCU members in universities that participate in USS (Universities Superannuation Scheme), are taking strike action over proposed changes to their pension scheme. We recognise that this issue is a matter of profound importance to individuals and institutions.
As a learned society and charity which is independent of, but works with, universities, individual academics and students, we hope the dispute will be resolved in a timely manner. We welcome the fact that there is agreement between Universities UK and the University and College Union to return to the negotiating table, mediated by ACAS, to try to find a resolution.
