The EU referendum result has taken the UK into a period of profound uncertainty outside the reach of well-established European policies. Join the Sibthorp Trust, the British Ecological Society (BES) and the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) on Thursday 21 July for the first opportunity to debate the future of British environmental policy in the aftermath of the referendum.

Even beyond the EU question, one year on from the general election environmental policy in the UK is being shaped by many forces of change. The Government has promised a new 25-year plan for the environment in England, a potentially historic climate agreement was achieved in Paris, and the country has again been battered by extreme weather.

Chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby, ‘People, politics and the planet: any questions?’ – supported by the Society for the Environment and the Wellcome Trust – will bring together a panel of leading politicians including Kerry McCarthy MP (Labour, Shadow Environment Secretary), Baroness Parminter (Liberal Democrats, Environment Spokesperson) and Natalie Bennett (Green Party, Leader), to answer your questions. All those registering to attend will be invited to submit a question to the panel, and attendees whose questions are selected will be notified, and asked by Jonathan Dimbleby to stand up and ask them; just like ‘Any Questions’ or ‘Question Time’.
