Tips on what to think about when deciding between multiple job offers
After graduating from university, you might be keen to embark on your professional journey and apply to many roles. You may find yourself with multiple job offers.
Whilst this is a great position to be in, as it shows you are able to demonstrate relevant skills and experience, this can lead to a difficult decision to make.
Here are some tips for what to consider when faced with multiple job offers to help you select the best option for you:
Career goals – reflect on where you would like to take your career in 2, 5 or 10 years’ time. Does one job fit better with your short and long term plans?
Skills – think about what skills you currently have and any you would like to develop further. Does one job provide more opportunity to develop these skills?
The role – reflect on both the salary and other benefits offered with the role. These may be factors such as work/like balance or benefits such as leave or flexible working. Think about what is important to you.
The workplace – do you have a preference for an in-person, online, or hybrid role? If you will be commuting, what will the commute be for each role? Do you have a preference for working in a smaller or larger team?
The organisation – think about the values of the organisation and reflect on how they align with your own values. This could be around sustainability practices or inclusivity for example.
Write out the pros and cons to help you consider these questions.
