Over the next few weeks, staff at the Society are taking part in I’m a Scientist’s Human Geography Zone – an online activity taking place in February and March to connect school students with professionals in human geography-related roles through text-based chats.
The activity encourages students to explore geographical issues by connecting them with human geographers online in real-time to ask the questions that interest them, as well as showing students the wide range of careers in human geography.
The programme, run by I’m a Scientist, follows the Science Capital Teaching Approach and aims to build science capital by helping students to see subjects such as geography as more personally relevant to them and to engage more with the subject as a result.
The activity is free for UK state-maintained schools and teachers can sign up online to take part.
