Congratulations to all of the geographers who were recognised in the 2021 New Year Honours list, many of whom are Fellows of the Society, including:
Professor Mark Brandon FRGS who received an MBE for services to polar science
John Geiger FRGS, Director of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, who has been made Member of the Order of Canada (CM)
Paul Hackett FRGS, Chief Executive of Optivo, who received a CBE for services to social housing
Elizabeth Hughes, Chief Executive Officer for Map Action, who has received an OBE for services to humanitarian crisis operations
Alan Mills FRGS, a volunteer with Map Action, who received an MBE for services to international development
Emily Penn FRGS, Co-founder of eXXpedition, who received a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to conservation and to charity
Margaret Roberts, External Examiner and President of the Institute of Education and Geographical Association respectively, who received an MBE for services to education.
