Geography Directions: a year of COVID-19 commentary

Today marks one year since we launched a call for contributions on COVID-19 on the Society’s research blog, Geography Directions.

Since then, we have published over 150 blog posts, many of them on COVID-19, its spread, effects and legacies, but also on a variety of other contemporary issues. The site now has over 16,000 followers and has topped 50,000 views over the last year, indicating there is a real appetite for geographical voices and expertise to be applied to current events.

We are still actively seeking contributions to Geography Directions on COVID-19, but also on a variety of other issues, particularly: regional inequality and leveling up, inequality in its various forms, and climate change and action, as well as contributions around LGBTQ+- inclusive fieldwork.
