Members – join us for a tour of Earth Photo

If you’re a Fellow or member and haven’t yet had a chance to visit our Earth Photo exhibition, why not join us for a member-only introduction on Wednesday 7 August?

This guided tour of the exhibition of 50 shortlisted photographs and four films will focus on the category winners of this year’s Earth Photo competition, allowing you to find out more about the photographers and filmmakers behind this display of inspiring works. There will also be the opportunity to view a specially curated display of early photography from the Society’s Collections, which includes over 5,000 early images documenting the world’s people and places since the 1860s.

Earth Photo has been developed jointly in partnership with Forestry England and aims to enable a better understanding of the world around us. This year’s competition explored the themes of people, place, nature and changing forests, and over 1,000 entries were submitted. The resulting exhibition is a thought-provoking display which documents a range of environmental and societal issues facing our planet.

The guided tour, which will be led by our Head of Enterprise and Resources, Alasdair MacLeod, will take place on Wednesday 7 August and is for Fellows and members of the Society, who may each bring one guest to accompany them.

Three tour times are available to choose from:

11.00am to 12.00pm, 2.00pm to 3.00pm and 4.00pm to 5.00pm

Places are free but booking is essential as spaces are limited.

The Earth Photo exhibition is on display in our Pavilion until 22 August. Opening times are Monday to Friday from 10.00am-5.00pm, plus Saturdays from 10.00am-4.00pm. The exhibition is closed on Sundays and bank holidays.

In addition to the exhibition in the Society’s Pavilion, Earth Photo will also tour to Forestry England venues in Grizedale Forest (Cumbria), Moors Valley (Dorset) and Fineshade Wood (Northamptonshire).
