Popular photography magazine Outdoor Photography features our Earth Photo competition and exhibition in their August issue, which is on newsstands now.

The article focuses on wildlife and travel photographer Sue Flood’s shortlisted image Big Blue Berg, which was taken in Antarctica and submitted to the ‘place’ category. Sue said, “I particularly enjoy working in cold places, hence the submission of lots of images from polar latitudes. My aim is to use my images to generate interest in the natural world and its conservation, and the threats to our planet.”

Now in its second year, Earth Photo, which has been developed in partnership with Forestry England, focuses on photographs and films which explore the themes of people, place, nature and changing forests. The exhibition showcases a shortlist of 50 exceptional photographs and four films that document the Earth in all its diversity and encourage the viewer to engage with the subject matter and stories behind it.

The Earth Photo exhibition in our Pavilion runs from 6 July to 22 August. Opening times are Monday to Friday from 10.00am-5.00pm, plus Saturdays from 10.00am-4.00pm. The exhibition will be closed on Sundays.

In addition to the exhibition at the Society, Earth Photo will also tour to Forestry England venues in Grizedale Forest (Cumbria), Moors Valley (Dorset) and Fineshade Wood (Northamptonshire).
