As the end of the year approaches, it’s a good time to look back at what you have achieved over the last 12 months and to celebrate your accomplishments. For Chartered Geographers, this includes reviewing the continuing professional development (CPD) you’ve undertaken and how you’ve demonstrated your commitment to developing your career over the course of the year.
CPD is an integral part of professional growth, providing a structured and purposeful way to maintain and improve your knowledge, skills and professional qualities needed to perform effectively in your role. Chartered Geographers are expected to complete 35 hours of CPD each year, typically including 15 hours of CPD completed internally (e.g. offered by employers) and 20 hours completed externally.
If you are a Chartered Geographer, let us know the CPD you have undertaken this year by completing your 2022 CPD record and returning it to cgeog@rgs.org before Tuesday 31 January 2023.
Chartered Geographers are encouraged to use the Society's CPD template, which has been designed to support you in reflecting upon your professional development activities, and provides guidance on the CPD required to maintain Chartered Geographer status. Alternatively, you may include all of the required information in your own template. If you are concerned about any aspect of your CPD this year, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for personalised advice.
We review all CPD records submitted by Chartered Geographers each year. If you would like your CPD record to also be independently reviewed and certified by a Chartered Geographer, please let us know when you submit your record.
