Early-career academics can enhance their skills in teaching geography, earth and environmental sciences through a hands-on workshop offered by the Society in partnership with the Geological Society, Institution of Environmental Sciences, and British Society for Geomorphology.
The Society is hosting a two-day workshop for lecturers and researchers who are new to teaching in geography, earth and environmental sciences on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 November 2016. Through a range of practical, activity-based sessions, participants will have an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge while sharing ideas and experiences with colleagues from across the UK.
Led by experienced academics from across the disciplines, the workshop combines reflection on a range of teaching practices and pedagogies signature to geography, earth and environmental sciences with real-world advice and support for common teaching challenges. It has been organised in partnership with the Geological Society, Institution of Environmental Sciences, and British Society for Geomorphology.
Workshop session topics include: fieldwork, large-group teaching, data skills, assessment and feedback, and preparing for career progression.
