AC2022 plenary speakers announced

We are delighted to announce the following chair's plenary speakers for the conference convened by Professor Rachel Pain and relating to her chosen theme of Geographies beyond recovery. 

• Siila Watt-Cloutier is an indigenous activist from Kuujjuaq, Canada who works on the effects of climate change on Arctic communities, Inuit culture and human rights. Find out more.

• Caroline Faria is a geographer at the University of Texas whose research focuses on nationalism, violence and migration, global trade and urban displacement, drawing on antiracist feminist theory and methods. Find out more.

• Tal Peretz is a sociologist at Auburn University who studies men’s anti-sexism and anti-violence activism, with a particular focus on how race, class, religious, and sexuality intersect with gender. Find out more.

There will also be two chair's plenary panels, one on the arts in recovery, and a second on recovery from disasters. 

We’re also looking forward to a series of sponsored lectures from leading geographical journals, a day of performances and arts-based practice in the Northern Stage theatre on Newcastle University campus, and a strand of policy-focused sessions on recovery.
