Geographers recognised

The Society congratulates the geographers, many of whom are Fellows, who were recognised in the 2017 New Year’s Honours list.

The Society extends warm congratulations to the geographers who were recognised in the New Year’s Honours list, including:

• Professor Jane Francis, who received a damehood for services to UK Polar Science and Diplomacy. 
• David Hempleman-Adams, who received a knighthood for services to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
• Professor Paul Cheshire, who received a CBE for services to Economics and Housing.
• Professor Peter Jones, who received an OBE for voluntary services to National Transport Policy.
