This year, the Society’s grants programme is supporting more than 60 research projects and you can follow their progress online.
The Society’s grants programme provides funding for geographical research, fieldwork and teaching, both in the UK and overseas. In 2017, £200,000 of funding is supporting more than 60 research projects involving over 130 individuals.
Grant recipients will be carrying out research in 40 countries across the world, from ever-popular fieldwork destinations like Iceland and Norway, to places very rarely visited by Society grant recipients, such as Tajikistan and Haiti.
Student expedition teams, postgraduates, and senior researchers alike will be studying a great variety of topics, from internal migration in Mongolia to carbon cycling in Vietnamese mangrove forests to food sovereignty in Colombia.
