Professor Claire Dwyer was a lecturer, instructor, academic and advocate of geography. Her passion for pedagogy and justice were exemplified in her roles with educational trusts, and she promoted her discipline across the globe with many visiting fellowships. She had a particular skill for collaboration, and thrived when bringing together communities of artistic and academic creativity.
For the Royal Geographical Society, she was the recipient of the Henrietta Hutton research grant, which helped fund her work in village health and hygiene in West Bengal. She also held a pivotal role in the Women and Geography Study Group, where her work produced a book: Geographies of New Femininities.
