Two new RGS-IBG Book Series titles have been published this month, just in time for Christmas. Both books engage with timely global challenges that have significant real world impacts.
Pathological Lives: Disease, Space and Biopolitics, by Steve Hinchliffe, Nick Bingham, John Allen and Simon Carter, investigates current approaches to managing pandemics, epidemics, and foodborne diseases. It focuses on the food and farming sector, where the generation and subsequent transmission of disease can reach pandemic proportions.
Meanwhile, Ross Barnett, Graham Moon, Jamie Pearce, Lee Thompson and Liz Twigg’s Smoking Geographies: Space, Place and Tobacco uncovers how geography can show us not only why people smoke but also broader issues of tobacco control, providing deeper clarity on how smoking and tobacco is ‘governed’.
