The Society’s autumn programme of events is now available online and offers a wide range of talks, discussions and exhibitions at venues across the UK.
Highlights from the events taking place in London include the Society’s President, Nicholas Crane speaking on a Monday night about the making of the British landscape, a travel evening featuring expert tips on what to see and do in Kazakhstan, and an exhibition showcasing the first ever platinum prints made from Frank Hurley’s glass plate negatives of the Endurance expedition.
The Society’s nine UK regional committees also have a wide selection of lectures, social activities and field trips on offer over the coming months. Whether you are interested in sustainable cities, Vikings or extreme sports, there is something for you.
In addition, acclaimed travel writer and Oxford geography don Nick Middleton, will be talking about countries that don’t exist as part of the Regional Theatres Programme during October and November.
Many of the events in our busy and varied programme are open to everyone, but some – including Monday night lectures and talks in the City lecture series – are members’ events. Now is the perfect time to join the Society and make the most of what’s on offer this autumn.
Members of the Society can also watch high quality recordings of Monday night lectures online, making them available to those unable to attend the lectures in person. Follow the links below to watch behind-the-scenes interviews with four of last year’s Monday night speakers.
