Professor Joe Smith (Chair) is the Director of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). Before joining the Society, Joe's work and research promoted a better understanding of, and action on, global environmental change issues.
Professor Joanna Haigh is the Co-Director of the Grantham Institute at Imperial College for Climate Change and the Environment. Jo’s scientific interests include radiative transfer in the atmosphere, climate modelling, radiative forcing of climate change and the influence of solar irradiance variability on climate. She has published widely on the topic of climate change, is a lead author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and has acted on many UK and international panels.
Richard Black is the director of the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU). As a former BBC Environment Correspondent, he reported on a number of UN summits including five UNFCCC meetings. He reported from the field on issues such as carbon capture and storage, nuclear power, amphibian conservation, whaling, forestry, aquaculture and earthquake prediction. From 2012 Richard was Director of Communications for the Global Ocean Commission prior to setting up ECIU.
Dr Chris Hope was the specialist advisor to the House of Lords Select Committee on Economic Affairs Inquiry into aspects of the economics of climate change, and an advisor on the PAGE model to the Stern review on the Economics of Climate Change. His research interests involve numerical information in public policy and the integrated assessment modelling of climate change, and he has published extensively in books and peer-reviewed journals.
