Join us for an Author meets critics session with author of Respatialising Finance: Pover, Politics and Offshore Renminbi Market Making in London, Professor Sarah Hall of University of Nottingham.
The book uses the internationalisation of the Chinese Renminbi (RMB) to work through a sympathetic conceptual and empirical critique of prevailing analyses of International Financial Centres (IFCs). Her conceptual (re)framing stresses the politics, institutions and economics of IFCs and will be essential reading for all social scientists interested in the dynamism of contemporary finance and financial centres.
This panel discussion, chaired by Dr Ruth Craggs of King’s College London, brings together geographers including Professor Sarah Hall, Dr Annina Kaltenbruner from Leeds University Business School, Dr Pan Fenghua from Beijing Normal University, and Dr Ilias Alami from Maastricht University. The discussion will explore Respatialising Finance from multiple angles and suggest where its contributions might lead scholarship in economic geography in the future.
