Join us for an Author meets critics session with author of The Unsettling Outdoors: Environmental Estrangement in Everyday Life, Professor Russell Hitchings of University College London.
The book looks at the potential benefits of greenspace and how this can be fully realised in our contemporary worlds. It does this by looking at the ways in which people actually engage with the ‘outdoors’ and outdoor activities in their everyday live.
This panel discussion, chaired by Dr Chih Yuan Woon of the National University of Singapore, brings together geographers including Professor Russell Hitchings, Professor Gordon Walker from Lancaster Environment Centre, Dr David Bissell from University of Melbourne, and Dr Cecily Maller from RMIT University. The discussion will explore The Unsettlling Outdoors, from multiple angles and suggest where its contributions might lead scholarship in cultural and environmental geography in the future.
