Farmers are often described as custodians of the countryside managing ~70% of the UK landscape and producing ~54% of the food on our plates. Farming is therefore incredibly important for individuals, businesses, and the rural communities involved. However, difficult conversations are emerging over climate change, soil health, and the biodiversity crisis.
These resources have been produced in partnership with the NFU to highlight the nitrogen cycle, inorganic nitrogen use, and food security. The animation focuses on the link between the carbon cycle and farming, complimented by podcasts on the Allerton Project, with farmer and conservationist Joe Stanley, and soil structure, with Dr Daniel Evans.
