To mark this year’s Earth Day, which takes place on Saturday 22 April, we’re making our recent Monday night lecture on 39 ways to save the planet free to view for 72 hours until midday on Monday 24 April.
Earth Day is an annual international day to raise awareness and show support for environmental protection. This year’s theme is Invest In Our Planet, focusing on engaging governments, institutions, businesses, and individuals to come together in partnership for the planet. Acting as a continuation of last year’s campaign, the theme highlights the importance of dedicating our time, resources, and energy to solving the climate crisis.
39 ways to save the planet, the landmark BBC Radio 4 series and book developed in partnership with the Society, explores 39 practical, feasible and carbon-cutting ideas to help address the climate crisis. In our Monday night lecture, co-presenters Tom Heap and Dr Tamsin Edwards share exclusive insights into how the 39 ways were chosen, documented and judged, and why talking about them matters.
To accompany the series, we also produced a range of award-winning teaching resources to support teaching of topics related to climate change and environmental interactions and management in the classroom.
