The Society, in partnership with Endurance22, have produced a set of educational resources which allow pupils to explore changes in polar exploration from the early 20th century to today, and Antarctica’s unique frozen environment.
The free resources are suitable for both for Key Stage 1 and 2 geography and history lessons, and draw on the Society’s Collections of polar maps, photographs, documents, and artefacts. They include a first-person narration of the voyage of Shackleton’s Endurance to allow primary pupils to access the expedition’s events more easily, an animated timeline of Shackleton’s involvement with Antarctic exploration, and instructions on how to make your own model of Endurance.
We are also working with Reach the World and Dan Snow of History Hit, who are also partners on the Endurance22 expedition, and their respective work will be providing live streams and digital updates over the course of the expedition.
