Registration is open for the fifth International Conference for Carceral Geography, taking place in Melbourne, Australia, from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 December. The conference will be a hybrid event, with sessions streamed live for online delegates.
The conference is hosted by the University of Melbourne and supported by the Society’s Carceral Geography Working Group (CGRG).
This year’s conference theme is Confinement: spaces and practices of care and control. The conference will be an inclusive gathering of academics, students, professionals, and individuals with experience of living and working in confined settings.
It will feature 26 sessions on themes from across the discipline, as well as a creative programme, including film screenings, artwork, and archival materials. There will also be a variety of networking opportunities.
Conference registration is free for those without financial support. The CGRG invites financial contributions from those who are able, which will be used to support bursaries for early-career presenters to attend future conferences.
