The Society’s Annual International Conference will be held at the University of Exeter in 2015, with the theme of “Geographies of the Anthropocene”.
The largest event in the Society’s calendar, the Annual International Conference is also the largest annual European geography conference. Held at the Society this year, over 2000 delegates from 60 countries took part in more than 400 academic sessions involving paper presentations, keynotes, panel discussions and workshops.
Geographies of the Anthropocene
The Chair of Conference, Professor Sarah Whatmore (University of Oxford) has introduced the theme of “Geographies of the Anthropocene”.
Once every three years the Society takes the conference outside of its home in London. The conference visited Edinburgh in 2012 and Manchester in 2009. For 2015, the conference will be held at the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus in Exeter, Devon, in the south west of England.
